Frequently asked questions
The questions that come up most while using VRenamer.
Which file sources are supported?
Four kinds: SMB and WebDAV (Synology, QNAP, TrueNAS and other NAS devices, with automatic LAN discovery), plus Aliyun Drive and 115 through their official OAuth sign-in — no self-hosted WebDAV bridge required.
Will it move or delete my files?
No. Only the filename changes. Files are never moved, and their contents never pass through your device.
What naming format does it output?
Infuse / Emby / Plex / Jellyfin-compatible names such as Fallout.2024.S01E03.mkv, so players match the right entry without manual fixes.
What happens when the AI gets a title wrong?
Search TMDB and match it manually — only the selected rows are re-predicted. Reshaping folders into “Show (Year)/Season 01” also raises accuracy noticeably.
Are subtitles renamed too?
Yes. VRenamer links subtitle files to their video and renames them together, keeping language suffixes such as .zh.srt and .en.ass.
Can I use it without a subscription?
Yes. Day-to-day tidying is covered by the free allowance — no subscription required to get started. When you do a full-library sweep or weekly batch import, Pro lifts the limit, and the allowance refreshes daily.
The player still misidentifies files after renaming. Why?
Check the folder depth and the SxxExx pattern first, then confirm the library type matches. Each player's rules are covered in the guides.
